On Tuesday, August 26th, Instagram launched their new Hyperlapse App, which speeds up shaky video footage to create a short time lapse clip.
"Traditionally, time lapse videos depend on holding your phone or camera still while you film. Hyperlapse from Instagram features built-in stabilization technology that lets you create moving, handheld time lapses that result in a cinematic look, quality and feel—a feat that has previously only been possible with expensive equipment." The app is very straightforward and opens directly to your phone's camera. It allows users to record video and then speed up the footage from 2x-12x the original speed. You can then save the footage to your camera roll and easily share to Instagram from there.
We tested out the new app this morning and found it very user friendly. Open the app, shoot video footage, choose your speed, save and you're good to go. The one potential issue this app faces is that users do not have the option to go back and change the speed of the footage once the video is saved.

While Instagram video quality still leaves much to be desired, this is an easy and fun way to share unique videos on Instagram.
